"And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress and keep it". Genesis 2:15

Welcome

"And the Lord God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to dress  and keep it." Genesis 2:15

I am always happiest in the Garden. Taking something that was once barren or ugly and creating something beautiful makes me feel close to God and to his purposes for man. We are still "placed in a garden", though a fallen one, and are here to "cultivate the Earth" - recreating and renewing the Garden of Eden in the places we live and in our lives. How are you doing that?

This blog is about urban homesteading and stewardship. I am learning and writing as I learn. I hope to make the area that I steward productive and healthy, and to discover the the optimum interconnectedness of all its systems. The gardens soil is depleted and the insects are ravenous. In addition to that we get very little rainfall in the summer. These are the challenges I face and hope to overcome.

I come from a long line of avid gardeners, both of the flower gardening and vegetable gardening variety. I am seeking to make my garden not only a beautiful place, but a productive and sustainable urban homestead. I am a Christian wife and mother, and a homeschooler.
